Stage Groups, the online support groups included with Steps & Stages™ for Alzheimer’s caregivers, include many discussions in which caregivers give and receive tips, advice and support from folks who understand what they’re going through.

To help even more caregivers, we are now showcasing a sampling of these conversations to new Caring.com visitors, as well as to participating members (http://www.caring.com/alzheimers-support). In creating the Featured Conversations feed, our staff reviews and selects conversations that speak to:

  • Common challenges of caring for an older adult with Alzheimer’s or dementia
  • Caregiver wellness, such as avoiding burnout or overcoming feelings of guilt
  • The power of Stage Groups in connecting caregivers with similar experiences
  • Current or seasonal events that are relevant to caregivers and their families
  • And other topics that encourage a new caregiver to join a Stage Group and get support.

Participants frequently comment about how valuable these conversations are to them:

  • “I’ve felt so alone for so long, and I’m taken back at the amount of love and encouragement in your responses to me.”
  • “I have learned so much already just from reading the comments others are making.”
  • “I found this site in a desperate attempt to find someone to talk to and understand. Someone I could bounce things off. Some encouragement or correction. I can always go straight to my Stage Group and get a lift.”
